Diseases And Symptoms Of Tick Bites

Diseases and symptoms of tick bites

Not only because of TBE is the danger from ticks, on everyone’s lips. This mite species transmits more pathogens than any other parasite. The reason for this is the lifestyle and dietary habits of the ticks that feed on the blood of vertebrates. Unlike most parasites, they do not confine themselves to a particular host but infest animals as well as humans. The most common diseases transmitted by ticks include Lyme disease, borreliosis, babesiosis and tick bite fever. There are regional differences in the distribution of diseases. However, since they are all serious diseases, which in extreme cases can even lead to death, a tick bite should be examined as soon as possible by a doctor.
Diseases And Symptoms Of Tick Bites
These are the most common diseases:

  • TBE
FSME is a viral disease that attacks the human nervous system. People who live or travel in endangered areas can get vaccinated against FSME. After the patients complain of flu-like symptoms in the first phase of the disease, the TBE virus can attack the brain membranes and the brain itself and cause inflammation there. TBE is considered so dangerous because there is no medical treatment once it has broken out. In addition, only about one-fifth of patients recover completely. Everyone else often suffers serious after-effects.
  • Lyme disease
Lyme disease is the most common tick-borne disease. The trigger is the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi, which is transmitted through the tick bite into the human body. It is very difficult to diagnose because it is associated with symptoms such as muscle and headache or fever, which may also be indicative of many other conditions. The only characteristic symptom, the wandering red around the tick bite does not occur in all patients who suffer from Lyme disease. However, Lyme disease can be treated very well with antibiotics, the therapy success is greater, the earlier it begins.
  • Babeiose
People rarely develop babesiosis, which is caused by single-celled parasites. This disease is still relatively poorly researched in human medicine because of too small numbers of cases because mainly animals get sick. The symptoms are similar to those of malaria, which is why a combination of different malaria drugs is used for the treatment.
  • tick bite fever
Tick bite fever occurs worldwide in various variations. It is triggered by different Rickettsia bacteria. Roughly one differentiates between the tick bite fever of the old world and the tick bite fever of the new world, which is common in the USA. This form takes the hardest course and can even lead to death in extreme cases. The tick bite fever can be treated very well with antibiotics.
